Something About My Photography

[2002] From time to time, I ask myself: why do I take photos and, moreover, share them on the web? No answers so far. It seemed that all in a sudden, photography hits me, with no grand reasons. I just keep on shooting and enjoying it at a very basic level. When going out with camera and portraiting my favorite subjects, e.g. people and nature, physically I could feel excited from inside out. Not sure whether this is a kind of contact with strangers and the world which I had seldom experienced before but, with camera, I do find another side of myself.

I like to see things with emotions. Most of my pictures have certain kind of energy inside. Examples are candid people and various nature creatures. I seek to capture the best moment in action. Also like to share my vision of an event with a flow of pictures. Somehow I do not appreciate posed faces unless I spot energy there. Ever since picking up photography, I have stopped shooting myself and acquaintances. Most of my subjects had nothing to do with me before.

I started from nature photography. Oh wait, not real 'nature' but zoo/bird park kind of nature :) Later I made a move to people photography, all kinds of people at all ages. Since 2005, I have been concentrated on AD wedding photography (in Singapore) and travel photography (overseas). Both offer a great number of opporunities driving my passion and vision to a higher level.

Okay, without further ado, I wish you enjoy my photos and stories. Please do feedback to me should you had any thoughts on this gallery. You are most welcome!

[Update] Tom has become an AD wedding photographer since 2005.
